"Originally released in March 2008.
This was a period in which Boris, while embarking on extensive world tours following the release of PINK, was simultaneously creating a wide range of experimental works. Out of the tension between the raw physicality sharpened to its limits by an intense touring schedule, and the opposing drive toward radical experimentation, SMILE was born.
With sound production by You Ishihara (ex-White Heaven, The Stars), the International Version was thoroughly dismantled and reconstructed—resulting in a sonic landscape so transformed it could be considered an entirely different work.
Contributing as a support guitarist, Michio Kurihara expanded both the breadth of Boris’ sound and the depth of their expression.
By listening across the three versions—Japanese Version, International Version, and SMILE -Live at Wolf Creek-—the listener can fully perceive the documentary-like nature and profound dimensionality contained within the work SMILE."
