"In July 2021, Little Wizard, the instrumental rock band from Shaoxing, released their third album Little Wizard III, which is a peek, taste and description of surreal time and space, with a Calvino-esque charm and the eerie and beautiful giddiness of Tomihiko Morimi. Little Wizard, which is not good with words, tries to use instrumental music to express their chaotic and complex thoughts of a surreal life stacked up in the real city.

Guitar is always taking the lead in Little Wizard’s music, playing various roles with different tones and rhythms. As for this album, the guitar, stark and relentless just as a sharp blade, is hewing a new path through the brambles at the very beginning; then it tries to break and crash everything existing, like a blunt hammer hit on the hard wall blocks; and finally, it quiets down, with an unreasoning tenderness that’s reluctant to leave.

Songwriter and guitarist Xu Sai said the album Little Wizard III is a self-deprecating attempt to pick up and sort out some of the motivations and music pieces from the past. In fact, the album echoes the trajectory and record of Little Wizard's music and life over the last decade: from their teenager years to adulthood, from one dream world to another, and they eventually wake up from the layers of dreams to find themselves still deep in the messy world of reality."
